Community Involvement

Building on the Voice of the Oyate

The Makoce Na Mni Waste project is building on the work of the Oyate Omniciye Comprehensive Plan, which was developed by Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation through a HUD Sustainable Housing and Community grant and included the outcomes of the Oyate Consortium comprised of 19 reservation entities. This process included talking circles with over 300 people. As a result, the plan recommended forming a regional planning commission and other recommendations regarding water quality, sustainable infrastructure, and solid waste systems.
