Oglala Sioux (Lakota) Housing has been working with the Oglala Sioux Tribe to upgrade all the community water systems on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The plan is to remediate health and safety issues and bring the system up to Bureau of Reclamation standards. Once this is done the systems will be transferred in trust for the Tribe to BOR who will assist with maintenance and operations. This was included in the Mni Wiconi law but not completed due to lack of funds and time.
